Hawaiian music, Past, Present, & Future – Sandy Miranda

Hawaiian music, Past, Present, & Future

GEORGE KAHUMOKU, JR. HAS WON 4 GRAMMYS FOR HIS TRADITIONAL HAWAIIAN MUSIC.

Today we have a real treat–a live performance recorded on March 6 at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley.  Ledward Kaapana, George Kahumoku, Jr., and Jeff Peterson will play the best of the best in traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music.

They are in the final week of a national tour, as we make this recording.  Many sold out performances from the east coast to California.  These masters of Hawaiian slack key generously offered to let us broadcast their evening here in Berkeley.

Tune in for what the Hawaiians call a “chicken skin” show…the kind that gives you goose bumps!

We’ll also play some of the greats from “The 49th State.”
